Why you need to take the 10,000 steps a day challenge to keep fit.

Keeping active with your mind and body is vital for all ages and more so the older you get.

There is a lot of talk regarding taking 10,000 steps a day for extra fitness – this may sound a lot but can be achieved very easily.

I often manage between 10,000 and 12,000 steps a day.

10,000 steps can amount to around 5 miles a day.

If you are in any doubt about any form of exercise and how it could affect your health do check with your Doctor first.

Too old to take driving lessons?

Too old to take driving lessons?

I have reached the age of 53 and still a non-driver.

It does not worry me – passing my driving test is not on my bucket list. Thankfully I have excellent transport links where I live.

Of course for some over 50s this is not the case – you may live in a rural area with poor transport (if any) and feel isolated from family and friends.

So is it too late to start driving lessons? –  Having done some research I am pleased to say that this is not the case.

Good things about the Menopause

There are many good things about the menopause – You save at least £10 a month on  sanitary products (that is equivalent to a free weekend break)

No more cramps or feeling rubbish


You start to love your body

No worry of pregnancy – so you can enjoy better sex with your partner

No more binging on chocolate each month  – unless you want to!

Breasts are not tender every 3-4 weeks

No more of having to carry extra  sanitary products with you ‘just in case’

Well often women of a certain age are often invisible and I am here to prove that is not the case.

One thing that led me here was that 3 years ago I was walking the streets looking for work with a sandwich board! I needed to think outside the box.

I had tried all usual avenues to seek employment and felt I needed to make a statement.  I managed to secure a new role.
