Have a good laugh
They say laugher is the best medicine. By having a good laugh you are not think about your current stressful problems.
By laughing your body releases endorphins, which are the body’s natural feel-good chemicals. Endorphins will help you with an overall sense of well-being and can even temporarily relieve pain. So this can mean that your view on all the day-to-day stressful events will vastly improve even when the laughing has gone.
So dig out that comedy DVD and have a good laugh.
What is carbon monoxide poisoning
Carbon monoxide is a gas that has no colour, taste or smell yet it can kill you. The gas is produced by burning material containing carbon.
Always get a reputable company or gas registered fitter to install your boiler or other gas appliances. If you get a cowboy this can result in carbon monoxide leaks and poisoning.
Sadly it is the very common cause of fatal poisoning in the UK. It has been estimated that it can cause accidental deaths of over 50 people a year and around 200 non-fatal poisonings each year. Do not become a victim
Empty Nest Syndrome
Empty nest syndrome is a feeling of grief and loneliness parents may feel when their children leave home for the first time. Some common situations are – when children leave to live on their own or to attend a college or university.
Most parents are likely to be affected by empty nest syndrome, though some factors can create a predisposition to it. Adults who are facing various stressful events in life such as menopause, moving away or retirement, the death of spouse are more likely to experience this syndrome. Some common conditions associated with empty nest syndrome are – sadness, loneliness, sense of loss of purpose, feelings of rejection, depression, stress and anxiety over the child’s welfare.
I am being treated for high blood pressure (thankfully it is under control) yet for a while I did nothing about it even though there is a history of blood pressure in the family.
Please do not think it is something I will not get. Did you know that 1 in 3 people in the UK have high blood pressure?
